    Description

Vintage HOTEL SHERMAN Chicago Silver Plate Demitasse Spoon 4-1/4" long - RARE and in Very Good condition with only very minor light scratches from use.
The Hotel Sherman, also known as the Sherman House, was located in Chicago across from City Hall.  In the early 1920's it was said to be the largest American hotel outside of New York City.  Over the years it hosted many events and guests but it is also known as the location for a Chicago gangster peace conference.  This conference resulted in the Hotel Sherman Treaty of October 21, 1926.  The treaty established a boundary line separating the North Side gangsters from the Southside gangsters.  The peace treaty was unsuccessful and lasted less than a year. The hotel closed in 1973 and was later torn down.
